In fall 1976 funding for 10 scholarships ($25,000) was provided for women’s athletics. The basketball program received four; swimming and track each received two and one-fourth; tennis received one; volleyball received one-half. Ann Baker (Furrow) was the first woman to hold an athletic scholarship in 1964 and 1965 when she played on the men’s varsity golf team and held a scholarship.
