First Lambda Student Union University Community Awards Ceremony

The Lambda Student Union held its first awards event on April 23, 2001, to recognize members of the university community who had shown support for the group and for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people on campus. The award for the most supportive administrator was not given in order to make a statement about the administration’s lack of support. Susan North, treasurer of the Gay & Straight Network, received the award for most supportive student; Jarrod Cruz received the award for most supportive resident assistant; Alliance for Hope received the award for most supportive student organization; Claudia Milstead, English and First Year Studies instructor, received the award for most supportive instructor.
