In July 1977 Chancellor Jack Reese appointed a campus energy committee to establish a campus-wide energy policy. A full-time energy conservation coordinator, 1971 UT graduate John Stockhausen, was hired July 1, 1977, in the Physical Plant Department. Chairman of the 27-person committee was Frank Davis, assistant director of the Transportation Center.
