From 1921 until the early 1960s, an Easter sunrise service was held annually in Ayres Tower (occasionally in front of Ayres). Several local churches participated in the event. Thanksgiving sunrise services were also held in the 1920s and ’30s and moved to Alumni Memorial in 1937.
