In 2007 Don Frieson was named senior vice president in charge of operations in Walmart’s central division. After an early stint with Kroger, and 12 years in management with Schneider National Carriers, Frieson joined Walmart in 1999. A 1990 graduate in operations management, Frieson first served in Walmart’s logistics department and was promoted to vice president of private fleet operations in 2001. Frieson, a Memphis native, came to UT on an engineering scholarship and transferred to the College of Business. His twin brother, Ron Frieson, graduated several years before Don, as Don took time off when his mother became ill. Active in the community, he is a member of the Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Advisory Board at the University of Tennessee, and he is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
