Dining Dollars Use at Cumberland Avenue Restaurants

With the opening of two restaurants (Panda Express and Raising Cane’s) in the building purchased by UT across from the Baker Center, Cumberland Avenue restaurant owners expressed concern about the competitive advantage those restaurants would have because they could accept UT’s Dining Dollars. Students also expressed the desire to use Dining Dollars at restaurants other than Papa John’s, which already accepted Dining Dollars. In March 2015 UT announced that restaurants on Cumberland Avenue would be able to accept Dining Dollars as soon as summer 2015, with a third-party vendor handling the required equipment, transaction processing, marketing and support.
