Community Partnership Center

The Community Partnership Center, now a self-funding entity within the Institute for a Secure and Sustainable Environment, was founded in 1994 as a joint effort of the Colleges of Architecture and Planning, Arts and Sciences, Education, and Law, along with the University Libraries and the Office of Research Administration. Associate Professor John Govinta (Sociology) and Associate Professor Fran Ansley (Law) served as codirectors in the center’s efforts to work with community-based groups to analyze and solve problems that face low- to moderate-income communities. UT was one of 14 recipients of a grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist with outreach programs to communities. The center was refocused and subsumed into ISSE in 2006.
