UT awarded a three-year contract to Atlantic Soft Drink Company for vending Pepsi Cola products on campus effective August 1985. The request for proposals issued as part of the bidding process resulted in the Pepsi vendor’s offering UT 38.65 percent of gross sales, while Roddy Manufacturing Company offered 32 percent to continue its installation of Coca-Cola products. Roddy Manufacturing (Coca-Cola vendor) kept the over-the-counter, or grocery-store contract, and also the cafeteria contract. In 1988 the contract was rebid, and effective August 15 both Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola products were available in vending machines on campus.
