Chuck Smith Players’ Lounge

The players’ lounge in the Neyland Thompson Sports Center was named the Chuck Smith Players’ Lounge in 2002 as a result of his gift of $150,000 to the Athletics Department’s facilities campaign. Smith played football at UT in 1990 and 1991. He was a second-round draft choice of the Atlanta Falcons in 1992 and helped lead the way for the Falcons to the NFC championship and a berth in the Super Bowl in 1999. While with the Falcons, he was a team captain, was selected the Greatest Falcon Lineman Ever, and was named an Unsung Hero by the National Football League. Following his professional football career, he remained in Atlanta, working with WSB television station and CNN.
