In 2010 Chancellor Jimmy Cheek commissioned the designing of a Chancellor’s Medal to be presented to persons who have provided exceptional service to UT Knoxville. The gold-colored medal has the Ayres Tower and the date of institutional founding on the front and is surrounded by a black band in which the words Chancellor and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville appear. The reverse of the medal has the same band, but the UT logo replaces the Ayres Tower.
