The Center for Health Education and Wellness is a unit within the Division of Student Life. It manages the distressed student hotline (974-HELP) and the distressed student protocol, provides case management, and is responsible for the threat assessment task force. In addition, the center educates students about health and wellness areas that impact student success. The division established the unit as the Safety, Education, and Environment Center in 2005 to coordinate efforts to perform substance abuse research, develop substance abuse programs, and to track the number of student drug and alcohol abuse incidents. The center administers an annual health and wellness survey and develops campaigns and programming to address alcohol, substance, and health and wellness initiatives. The name of the center was changed in 2014 as part of the reorganization of the division.
