The College of Veterinary Medicine began work on its Center for Agriculture and Food Security Preparedness in 2002 with the purpose of combatting agriterrorism and bioterrorism. In October 2006 US Representative Zach Wamp announced the center had been awarded a $2-million grant to establish an extensive web-accessible training program for national and industrial use and that the center was to serve as headquarters for information to assist the nation in protecting its agriculture and food supply.
