Comedian Carl Wolfson (BS in communications, 1975) got his start at Clement Hall in 1974 when he won $5 for a comic impression of Knoxville grocer and politician Cas Walker in the Clement Hall talent show. He was news editor for the Daily Beacon. After graduation, he worked in Nashville, and then moved to Los Angeles in 1979. He earned a master’s degree from UCLA. He began his professional career at Hollywood’s Comedy Store in 1980. He first appeared on The Merv Griffin Show in 1981, and his television credits include appearances on An Evening at the Improv, The Don Harron Show, Thicke of the Night, The Goodtime Cafe, George Schlatter’s Comedy Club, The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers, The Late Show Starring Ross Shafer, Showtime Comedy Club Network, and Head of Home Economics. He has made more than six thousand appearances and hosts The Morning Show on KPOJ in Portland, Oregon.
