A flowering representation of the bicentennial logo was installed at the main entrance to the agricultural campus on Neyland Drive by students working under the direction of Dr. Don Williams, head of the Department of Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design. The bicentennial garden was in the shape of a circle and featured the number 200 in blue ageratums, a flame of orange zinnias, and a background of white begonias. A removable concrete circle served as the garden’s border, and the official bicentennial logo was made of orange and white plastic lettering. The garden, which cost approximately $1,900 to build, required two semesters to complete and involved work by three different landscape design construction classes.
