BGLO stands for Black Greek Letter Organizations, a coordinating organization through which black sororities and fraternities combine to address common problems and to participate in philanthropic activities. The principal difference between the historically African American fraternities and sororities and their historically white counterparts is that the African American organizations are first and foremost service organizations. They provide service to the African American community and also serve the larger community of which they are a part.
