Bass Building

The William M. Bass Building, which replaced the portion of the 1960 Nuclear Engineering Laboratory housing office, seminar, and analysis space, was completed in 2011 and dedicated September 27. Construction of this 5,025-square-foot forensic anthropology processing building began in 2010. The building contains a classroom, two offices, locker-room facilities, and state-of-the-art laboratory and intake facilities.

The $2.4 million building was funded by private donations from James Haslam III and his wife, Dee; William Bass and members of the Bass family; and novelist Lisa Gardner. It is located contiguous to the Anthropological Research Facility on Cherokee Trail. The architectural firm for the facility was Pilgrim Penland Cooper & Perry.
