In March 1913 the Vols played the Philadelphia Athletics at Chilhowee Park and lost to them by a score of 9 to 2. On April 8, 1915, the Vols played the New York Giants and lost by a score of 8 to 1. On April 4, 1916, the Vols played the Philadelphia Athletics. The Athletics won 6 to 0. On April 12, 1918, the Vols played the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates won 15 to 0. In 1919 the baseball team played the Chattanooga team of the Southern League and lost 12 to 4. On April 4, 1920, the team played the Akron team of the International League and lost 3 to 1. In 2002 the Knoxville Smokies, then affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays, defeated Tennessee 5 to 4. The Smokies, then affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals, again defeated the Tennessee team 8 to 6 in 2003 and 5 to 2 in 2004. In 2006 the Smokies, a Double A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, defeated UT 8 to 0.
