In fall 2000 the College of Engineering initiated a dual degree program proposed by Jaime Taylor, Austin Peay associate professor and chair of the Physics Department. The program allowed students to attend APSU for three years and then transfer to UT to finish the dual degree program in an additional two years. Upon the completion of the 3+2 program, graduates received two bachelor’s degrees—one from UT in engineering and one from APSU in physics. The program began in fall 2001. It was the first time that a Board of Regents institution teamed with UT in such a dual degree offering.
