Ant and Roach Insecticide

Ant and roach hotels and other devices designed to kill such household pests owe a debt to UT’s entomology faculty member, Brooks D. Drain. In 1935 Dr. Drain developed an inexpensive way to obtain chemical pyrethrum, which he extracted from chrysanthemum blossoms. The Gulf Refining Company cooperated with Drain in extending the research.
