Ali Abu Ragheb

A 1967 recipient of the PhD in civil engineering from the College of Engineering, Ali Abu Ragheb was named prime minister of Jordan on June 19, 2000, and served until October 25, 2003. After leaving UT, he was a project manager for the ministry of municipal and rural affairs and was a partner and managing director of the National Engineering and Construction Company in Amman. He has served as the president of the Jordan Contractors Association and has served on other private and public boards and councils. He was elected to the Jordanian Parliament in 1993 and served as minister of industry and trade, minister of energy and mineral resources, and chairman of the parliamentary finance committee.

He has received the Grand Cordon of the Order of Al-Kawkab Al-Urduni and the Grand Cordon of the Order of Al-Nahda and is Knight of the Grand Cross in Italy. He is one of seven members of his family to have attended UT. His son graduated in 1995.
