Alexander Prize

The Alexander Prize, presented annually to a faculty member, honors an exceptional undergraduate teacher whose scholarship is also distinguished. The prize is funded from an endowment created in 1991 with gifts from Lamar and Honey Alexander and matching gifts from First Tennessee National Corporation and Martin Marietta. The first recipient was Dr. Howard Pollio (psychology), and the first prize was $6,000.
