The 4-H Electric Camp brings sixth- and seventh-graders from across Tennessee to the Knoxville campus, as part of 4-H’s effort to prepare students for careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) areas. Electric Camp stresses those areas by improving young 4-H members’ understanding of electricity, energy conservation, alternative energy sources, electronics, computer applications, robotics, electrical safety, and engineering. Supporting the endeavor are strong partnerships between UT Extension, the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association and its statewide member cooperatives, the Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association and its statewide member municipal systems, TVA, and allied industries.
