Roger Mineal, a civil engineering professor, was surprised to find Joe, the life-sized, fiberboard angus bull that perched on top of Sam and Andy’s Deli on Cumberland Avenue for more than 40 years, in a laboratory in Perkins Hall during the first weekend in May 1980. The professor called UT Police, who arrived and removed the bull to the UT impound lot, where it stood among the impounded cars until collected by employees of Sam and Andy’s on the following Tuesday.
