UT’s 1938 national champion football team netted the university an exhibit in the World of Sports division of the 1939 New York World’s Fair. The UT exhibit featured 2 five-foot by eight-foot white-on-orange pennants, lettered “Tennessee” and a large picture of Bowden Wyatt, Tennessee’s All-America end. July 23 was designated as Tennessee Day, and UT’s colors were raised on the World of Sports’ flagpole.
