Homecoming weekend 1964 marked the beginning of an annual UT Appreciation Week, sponsored by the UT Support Committee, a subgroup of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. The appreciation week was the first event of the committee. On campus, an open house was held at the Panhellenic Building and the Neyland Stadium press box. Downtown merchants promoted the week through displays and special prices for students.
