In 1955 the newly formed Development Council launched a campaign to promote private gifts to UT for projects that could not otherwise be funded. The council published an eight-page booklet listing projects for which funds were needed. The list was prepared by a special faculty advisory committee and identified specific projects that would help to maintain an eminent faculty, contribute to student welfare, and make possible expanded research. A list of needed buildings at Knoxville, Martin, and Nashville (School of Social Work) was also included.
