TENN-SHARE

Established in 1992, TENN-SHARE is a consortium of libraries and information agencies of all types and sizes in Tennessee dedicated to the sharing of resources throughout the state. In its founding year, it launched the Tennessee Electronic Library initiative, which provides residents of Tennessee access to selected electronic resources. In 2001 the initial effort was expanded, and Volunteer Voices began its work of building valuable historical content about Tennessee’s history and culture, establishing common technical standards, and organizing a coalition of the state’s K-12 educators interested in using primary resources in the classroom. With a 2005 federal grant, Volunteer Voices launched an ambitious project of digitizing original photographs and records and providing support for digitization throughout the state.
