The May 1989–June 1991 Tennessee Imperative Development Campaign raised money for a significant endowment for the UT Libraries. Chaired by UT trustee Jim Haslam and bolstered by an early gift of $1 million from Knoxville attorney Lindsay Young for the acquisitions budget, the campaign had a goal of $6 million and raised $8.7 million.
