In 1990 Jenny Moshak, assistant women’s athletics director for sports medicine, pioneered a program to assist student-athletes with issues that affect performance. Team ENHANCE (Enhancing Nutrition, Health, Athletic Performance, Networking, Community, and Education) was created as a program for student-athletes to create a healthy culture in which they could thrive. The program provided nutrition information and education about eating disorders and other mental/emotional health issues facing young women. It also provided support groups, intervention, individual and family therapy, outpatient treatment, aftercare services, and referral to inpatient treatment when necessary.
