Planning for the Student Success Center began in 2004, with the first step in its implementation being the identification of existing resources to assist students in being successful as they moved toward graduation and identifying any additional services or programs needed. The center developed a comprehensive website of available resources and added additional elements when identified as needed. The mission of the center is to promote student learning and academic success through a comprehensive network of support and referral, and it focuses on information and resources in academic advising, tutoring and academic support, community service, student life, and the academic review or academic probation program. It began as a website, and it opened the door of its first physical location, a former residence at 1807 Melrose Avenue (formerly the Phi Kappa Psi house) in August 2005. It moved to Greve Hall in 2012 and opened satellite-tutoring locations in Hodges Library and South Carrick Hall.
