The UT Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi (Alpha Psi Chapter) received its charter in 1944. The national organization was founded at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1919. The purpose of Sigma Delta Pi is to study and to create interest in the Spanish language and in Spanish culture. Together with other language organizations, Sigma Delta Pi has sponsored the showing of foreign language films on campus and has sponsored a Spanish table.
