Recyclemania

Recyclemania, coordinated by the Facilities Services’ Office of Sustainability, is an annual eight-week competition among more than six hundred colleges and universities across the country to promote waste reduction activities. The event began in 2001 as a challenge between Ohio University and Miami of Ohio University, when the recycling coordinators at the two schools sought a means of motivating students to recycle and raising the visibility of recycling. UT joined the program in 2005. The event has included, since 2010, the Recyclympics, in which students compete in games such as Plastic Bottle Free Throw and Phone Book Shot Put to earn prizes.
