The Arnold Air Society is a national honorary organization whose chapters are composed of outstanding Air Force ROTC students. It was organized at the University of Cincinnati in 1947 and was recognized by the Air Force the next year. It was named for General Henry H. (Hap) Arnold, commanding general of the Army Air Corps in World War II. The UT chapter of the national Arnold Air Society was organized in 1951 and named in honor of Lieutenant General Frank M. Andrews. The Sabre Air Command merged into the Arnold Air Society on May 15, 1958.
