Alumni Memorial Building—Brawl

Tim Frost, sophomore in communications and a member of the football team, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he opened fire on a Knoxville Police Department officer assisting in quelling a brawl, which broke out January 17, 1993, at a Phi Beta Sigma dance attended by three-hundred to four-hundred people.

Ten members of the UT football team and one former member were charged with violating campus standards of conduct in instigating the brawl. The other players charged were Victor Gerrard Brown, Chester Dewayne Ford, Aaron Hayden, Nicholas Omar Jester, George Kidd III, Horace Morris, Jason Todd Parker, Steven Lamarr Session, Nilo Kyle Silvan, and Leland Morris Taylor. Frost was dismissed from the team. In April state prosecutors reduced Frost’s original attempted murder charge to aggravated assault and downgraded the weapons possession charge to carrying a weapon on school property.
