In March 1939 the faculty approved the use of proficiency examinations to be given upon the recommendation of the head of the department. It was stipulated, however, that a student might not earn more than 45 hours through these examinations. Proficiency tests might be taken in the Colleges of Agriculture, Education, Home Economics, and Liberal Arts.
