An expense account management analyst with a Nashville insurance company, Elaine McReynolds was attending evening classes at the University of Tennessee in Nashville when she was appointed in July 1975 to a new UT Board of Trustees position created for Davidson County. She received a degree from the University of Tennessee in Nashville in fall 1976. She was the first African American to be appointed to a full term on the UT Board of Trustees.
