The UT Map Library, one of the most extensive in the nation, was moved from Alumni Memorial Building and the care of the Geography Department to the care of the UT Libraries in 1989. The library began under the direction of Dr. Robert Long of the Geography Department in 1967 as a way to organize and expand the departmental map collection.
