The Lady Vol Hall of Fame was initiated in 2001. In November 2014 the Athletics Department announced that it would no longer recognize female athletes by induction into the Lady Vol Hall of Fame, a corollary to combining the men’s and women’s athletics programs. The hall of fame had annually inducted up to 10 female athletes. Criteria for induction of student athletes included eligibility for consideration 10 years after college eligibility expired and at least one of the following accomplishments: college graduate, Olympian, All-American, National Team Member, All SEC a minimum of two times, American or world record holder, AIAW or NCAA champion or top-four finish, or SEC Champion. Staff inductees, which could comprise no more than two of the year’s 10 inductees, were eligible for consideration five years after retirement or leaving university employment and must have provided outstanding service to the Tennessee women’s athletics program. Inductees could be selected posthumously but otherwise had to agree to attend the induction ceremony. The charter inductees were Daedra Charles and Bridgette Gordon, basketball; Joetta Clark and Benita Fitzgerald, track and field; Tracy Ignatosky, swimming and diving; Peta Kelly and Paula Kelly, tennis; Beverly Robinson, volleyball; and Gloria Ray and Edward Boling, staff.
