Rebranded as DocuCare, iCare is an educational software program that integrates electronic health records (EHR) into a simulated learning tool for students. Developed by Tami Wyatt and Matt Bell of the College of Nursing and Xueping Li and Yo Indranoi of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department of the College of Engineering, the program was initiated in 2008 and was initially funded by a grant from UT’s Alliance of Women Philanthropists and, subsequently, by the National Science Foundation. It was purchased in 2011 by Wolters Kluwer Health, rebranded as DocuCare, and is now in use in more than 350 universities across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
