In November 2014 the SGA passed a revised version of a previous bill mandating the designation of at least one gender neutral bathroom in every campus building. The bill (which passed 47 for, 10 abstaining, and 12 against) calls for one gender neutral bathroom in every current UT building except Greek life buildings and newly constructed buildings, such as the Fred D. Brown Jr. Residence Hall. In response, one women’s restroom in each building was converted by adding a lock on the door and posting signage indicating its new function. Members of Students with Disabilities and Diversity Affairs, the organization that first approached SGA about the bill, and representatives from the OUTReach Center attended the SGA meeting to support passage of the bill.
