A committee of about 30 faculty, staff, and students began work in 2012 to develop the new Quality Enhancement Plan in conjunction with the reaccreditation of the institution by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. The first QEP was Ready for the World, which was begun in 2004 and became, with the adoption of a new QEP, part of the institutional culture. Five different programs for the Quality Improvement Plan were proposed, and campus stakeholders were broadly consulted about which program should be implemented. Experimental learning was the clear favorite for the new QEP and was adopted for launch in fall 2015 with three major components: The Smart Communities Initiative; Faculty Development; and Faculty, Staff, and Student Initiatives.
