John Bogle Cox received the BS degree from the university in 1893. He was a member of Chi Delta. As a General Electric engineer, he supervised the installation of Europe’s first multiple train unit at the Paris Exposition of 1900 (at which UT exhibits won two gold medals). He also wired underground systems for the London subway and electrified street railways in Lisbon and Havana. He received the Charles A. Coffin award from General Electric for his work as company representative and engineer for the electrification of the Mexican Railway.
