In 2005 the Library Special Collections, the Department of History, the Papers of Andrew Jackson project, and the Correspondence of James K. Polk project collaborated to form the Center for Jacksonian America. The center’s principal mission is to build and maintain a top-ranking program in Jacksonian Era Studies at UT. The center specializes in all facets of American history—from the beginning of the War of 1812 until the conclusion of the Mexican War in 1848. Dr. Daniel Feller, director of the center, gave the inaugural lecture on October 25, 2005.
